Typical Healthcare Infrastructure Enterprise Security Components

March 11, 2013
  1. IPS / IDS – Stop threats or mitigate threats in the infrastructure. DOS/WORMS/Trojans are detected and deterred this way.
  2. Anti-Virus / SPAM Protection – Many methods are well defined in this space. The big players are building Global Information Networks for day zero and early resolution dissemination
  3. Vulnerability Assessments and System Hardening – Locking down systems and breach/perimeter testing is a solid practice many are currently using. Less potential points of ingress = less chances for attack.
  4. Data Encryption – Key Management and full vendor agnostic capabilities are key in this space.
  5. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) – Internal misuse and mistakes account for much more breach than external vulnerabilities, especially in HealthCare.
  6. Audit Log Consolidation, Alerting, and Reporting – Too many disparate systems and their logs means not enough time to spend scouring them.
