Network – Wide Reporting Suggestions

February 5, 2012

Security reports need to contain data for the enterprise, not just a server or a few servers.  This is crucial in determining the true security health of the organization.  Network-wide reporting allows management to understand the current strengths and weaknesses in the security policies incorporated across the company.  If you want to manage security, you have to have a way to measure how good it is. Without a network-wide report, management may be lulled into thinking that because one group is secure, then everything must be secure.  This also provides an auditor or management the ability to compare the security of different divisions of the company, whether they are located physically close together or around the globe.
